This multi-agency training aims to develop your confidence and skills in supporting victims/survivors who may be experiencing domestic abuse and honour-based abuse. We will look at how to give person-centred, trauma informed support in the context of domestic abuse, and when safety planning with a victim/survivor.
Who is this learning for?
This training is aimed at anyone who is supporting people who may be experiencing domestic abuse or so called ‘honour’ based abuse.
What are the learning outcomes?
Participants will be able to:
Understand the risks from domestic abuse from the survivor’s perspective;
Carry out a risk assessment, including making use of the Domestic Abuse, Stalking and so called ‘Honour’ Based Abuse Risk Indicator Checklist (DASH RIC)
Develop an Individual Safety and Support Plan (ISSP)
Make use of referral pathways for high risk cases such as Marac and other agencies.
Who is delivering this training?
This training is being delivered by Women’s Aid East and Midlothian.
Are there any pre-requisites for attending this course?
A pre-requisite is having a firm grounding in Violence Against Women and Girls, therefore participants should have watched the Domestic Abuse Awareness Raising Tool video and have attended ‘Understanding Violence Against Women and Girls and Spotlight on Domestic Abuse’ training.
